Artist Profile: Alistair (Ali) Ian Campbell (Born February 15th 1959 in Birmingham) is a British reggae musician with a penchant for Dub.
Ali Campbell grew up in Birmingham, attended St. Luke’s Junior School and Moseley Road School of Art. He bought his first musical instruments with the £4,000 compensation, that was awarded to him after a bar fight on his 17th birthday. In 1978 he founded the band with school friends, after he had been unemployed for three long years before. The band took its name after a form of unemployment assistance at the time “UB40″.

In January 2008 Ali Campbell announced his separation from UB40, because he wanted to focus on his future solo career.
Campbell sings, plays guitar and drums.
He debuted in summer 1995 with the album “Big Love” and the release “That Look In Your Eye” and “Let Your Yeah Be Yeah”. In December 1995 with his daughter Kibibi he released a cover version of “Somethin ‘Stupid” , originally performed by Frank Sinatra and his daughter Nancy Sinatra.
